A musical Christmas in the Swan Valley

SWAN VALLEY – Swan Valley School students lit up the stage Dec. 21 as they welcomed the community to "Christmas at the O.K. Corral." Attendees were treated to singing and dancing by the preschool, welcomed into the planning for the Christmas celebration at the O.K. Corral and listened to a piano solo from pianist Lilly Boyd and music from the Jr. High Band.

The O.K Corral opened with plans to decorate for the Christmas celebration. However, Bubble Gum Bart (Collin Skinner) rolled into Snowy Gulch and threatened to shut down the celebration by covering it in bubble gum goo.

Stuck in a "sticky situation," the Mayor (Camden Gleason) listened to the people and wired Santa (Evan Ledford) for help. Santa knew The Candy Cane Kid (Tegan Skinner) was just the person to help the folks of Snowy Gulch avoid a sticky mess.

Ralph the Reindeer (Clayton Thompson) flew The Candy Cane Kid into Snowy Gulch just in time for her to confront Bubble Gum Bart. The Kid simply asked Bart why he was being so mean? Without much hesitation he said he didn't think anyone liked him.

After confirmation that most of the town actually not only liked Bubble Gum Bart but wanted to be his friend, he was welcomed to the Christmas celebration. It kicked off with a square dance called by Levi Boyd.

The music continued as the band took the stage following Lilly Boyd's piano solo. Music Director and Principal Aaron Morgenstern announced the Jr. High Band named themselves "Rad Awesomeness." This was the first year many of the students played an instrument since there has not been a band program at the school for several years. They played five selections.

"I've seen a huge increase in abilities," Morgenstern said. "I'm really proud of all the students."
