Seeley Swan High School’s basketball season got underway last week with the Lady Blackhawks and Blackhawks taking on St. Regis and Plains.
The Lady Blackhawks defeated St. Regis with ease 59-15 on Dec. 3. Tegan Mauldin hit three three-pointers on her way to 11 points. Dani Sexton and Emily Maughan also had 11 points each followed by Sariah Maughan 9, Kyla Conley 7, Trista Alexander 4, Mia Saalfeld 2 and Ava Thornsberry 2.
The next day the Lady Blackhawks blew out Plains 65-17. The Girls were on fire from the three-point line hitting nine. Mauldin sank five three-pointers followed by three from E. Maughan and one from Thornsberry. Mauldin led the scoring with 19 points followed by E. Maughan 15, S. Maughan 10, Sexton 9, Saalfeld 5, Conley 4 and Thornsberry 3.
The Boys had their hands full with St. Regis. They came out strong in the first quarter but had a rough second quarter taking a 20-point deficit into the second half. The Boys didn’t give up and tried clawing their way back in the second half but came up short with the final score being 51-63.
Chase Haines, Jason James and Walker McDonald all had 14 points each to lead the Blackhawks. James put in three three-pointers while McDonald and Haines each had two. Klayton Kovatch and Oskar Murphy rounded out the points with 5 and 4 respectively.
The Boys had no trouble blowing past Plains defeating them 53-13.
McDonald put up 16 points to lead the Blackhawks followed by Haines with 12 and James with 11. Seth Richardson, Oskar Murphy, Connor Matthew and Owen Hoag each had 3 points while Kovatch added 2.
This week Seeley-Swan hosts Superior Dec. 10 with a half game of JV Boys starting at 2:30 p.m. followed by Girls JV, Boys Varsity and Girls Varsity. They then travel to Hot Springs Dec. 11 with JV Boys starting at 4 p.m. followed by Boys Varsity and Girls Varsity.
