AAI Giving Tree for art supplies returns in Seeley and Swan

SEELEY LAKE – For the past three years, students at area schools have the opportunity to be creative in their classrooms thanks to community support through the Alpine Artisans, Inc (AAI) Giving Tree for art supplies. The AAI Giving Tree is continuing again this year raising money for supplies that support art in the classrooms.

In the past three years, the AAI Giving Tree has raised more than $2,600 for both SLE and Swan Valley Elementary Schools. This year organizer Kris Gullikson hopes to be able to expand the donations to support the Seeley-Swan High School art program.

Community members are encouraged to pick a tag off the tree at the Swan Valley Community Library in Condon or the Grizzly Claw Trading Company in Seeley Lake. Drop cash or check (made out to Alpine Artisans, Inc.) into the coffee can at the Grizzly Claw or the check out at the Swan Valley Library.

The trees will be up through the New Year. Donations collected in Swan Valley will support Swan Valley School. Donations collected at the Grizzly Claw will be split between SLE and SSHS.

Donations can also be made by mailing a check to AAI, P. O. Box 841, Seeley Lake, MT 59868. If sending a check, please note to which school, SLE, Swan Valley or SSHS the donation should be given.

This winter, AAI will present each school with a check designated for art supplies. Teachers can request the funds to purchase the supplies they need.

"Art helps everyone, no matter their age, connect to the world we live in," Gullikson said. "What could be more important than that for our collective mental health right now?"
