Passages
It was another one of those times when the cupboards began to look like Ol' Mother Hubbard's pantry. It seemed like a time to worry. However, Jesus reminded me in Matthew 6 how "He takes care of the birds of the air...and not to worry about tomorrow." So I had to come up with a plan or so I thought. No work locally.
But God had a better purpose.
For the same chapter sez "to seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these thing will be given to you as well."
So my wonderful wife Father God blessed me with prepared all I'd need in a logg'n camp even as she had a tear in her eye. Alaska again.
It wasn't long in that camp I learned it was operated by Seventh Day Adventist folks. I always heard those Seventh Day Adventist folks were a little strange. Ya know, eat'n a lot of nuts and twigs. Vegetables at every meal. To even mention the word meat put 'em into convulsions and obedient to the seventh day Sabbath and all.
Ain't it strange how Satan has used denominations to divide God's people.
One day I had a visit with the Adventist Pastor. Seemed like an ordinary sort. Claims he had an invite to go to another old logg'n camp to minister to some folks who hung on there.
Would I like to go along? Yes, I would.
As we bounced and rattled over that blasted rock logging road, that had more flat tires per mile then anywhere, we shared that sweet fellowship that only those born of the Spirit can have.
Once we arrived it didn't take long for someone to gather up the faithful into the old cookhouse. The good folks were very sincere to have a Bible study but they didn't want any denominational doctrine involved. Paul wrote in 1 Timothy 4:16, "Watch your life and doctrine closely..." They knew once you're born again you must grow in Christ like it sez in Ephesians 4:13, "For if you don't grow you're in danger of slipping away." Believers must be discipled!
Head'n back along that dark lonely stretch of potholes the Preacher sez, "There is a great need there."
I don't know if he ever overcame his denominational bondage or not and fulfilled that great calling at the old camp. For as the rain began to pour down, as it usually did on Prince of Wales, it washed away some memories.
But this one thing I do remember: what Jesus said to Peter in John 21:15-17, "Do you love me? Feed my sheep!"
