The Clearwater Unit of the Montana Department of Natural Resources and Conservation plans to conduct prescribed pile burning this fall. The area covered will be on School Trust Lands within the rough area of Greenough, Seeley Lake and Lincoln, Montana. These burns will be approved by Montana Idaho Airshed Group (a cooperative group including federal, state, and county groups and the forest industry) to determine quality days to burn. The piles we will be burning are from timber harvest and pre-commercial thinnings. Like many situations, nature and weather may not cooperate. At those times, Montana DNRC employees may delay operations if conditions change. Fall burning season will end on Nov. 30.
