Lady Blackhawks fall to Charlo, defeat Granite

The Seeley-Swan Lady Blackhawks split their week on the road with a loss to Charlo Sept. 6 and a win over Granite Sept. 11.

The Lady Blackhawks didn’t go down without a fight in Charlo. After dropping the first two sets 15-25 and 23-25 they came out swinging and won the third and fourth set 25-21 and 25-23. They came up short in the final set falling 7-15 to lose the match.

Sariah Maughan led the Lady Blackhawks against Charlo with 8 kills while Ava Thornsberry had 18 assists and Trista Wendel had a pair of aces. On the defense Maughan had 21 digs and Maughan, Wendel, and Cora Stone each had one block.

The Lady Blackhawks found more success in Granite where they came away with a three set victory winning 25-20, 25-23 and 25-20.

Maughan again led in kills scoring 9 with Wendel and Stone right behind her with 8 and 6 kills respectively. Thornsberry was credited with 13 assists while Maughan and Stone each had 3 aces. In Dani Sexton’s first game of the season playing Libero, she racked up 16 digs. Stone had the only block recorded in the match.

This week the Lady Blackhawks host Darby Sept. 16 with JV starting at 5:30 p.m. and then head to Arlee for a tournament Sept. 18.
