The 80,000 acres that you crave is already under the protection of the US Forest Service. That is right, no subdivision will be put there! The ONLY thing the Blackfoot Clearwater Stewardship Act would do is to keep those nasty, raggedy people out of there that are elderly or handicapped. Wilderness - no assistance from mechanized devices - precludes our access and that is really what you want.
These 80,000 acres HAD logging roads in it many years ago and therefore should NOT be eligible for wilderness designation. It should be open to ALL the public.
I do not know why there is such animosity toward handicapped and elderly when it comes to access to OUR public lands, but when it comes to access, we need not apply. Should recreation and tourism be limited to the young, healthy and wealthy?
The politicians that are encouraging this travesty, including Senator Jon Tester, obviously do not care about elderly and handicapped and therefore they really have no need for your vote.
There are ALREADY millions of acres of wilderness preserved for the young and athletic in Montana alone, from which we are excluded. I guess the taxes we have paid over the last 70-80 years should be thought of as donations to the young, healthy and WEALTHY. Wilderness is NOT public land but is limited to a very exclusive club.
Oh, by the way, all of you BCSA folks are welcome to use the public land that we are limited to, if you wish. Will you return the invitation?
