SEELEY LAKE - Residents and guests showed their stuff at Loving Hearts' annual Brunch and Fashion Show at Mission Bible Fellowship Saturday, Aug. 14.
Loving Hearts Manager Mary Newpower was proud of how the show turned out.
"I think it went very, very well," she said.
She said they had a similar turnout compared to last year but they were still able to raise nearly $2,700 in total revenue, almost $200 more than their intended goal. The show acts as the main fundraiser for Loving Hearts' scholarships.
"My goal of $2,500, I thought I was reaching, so I was very surprised ... that we got that," she said.
Around 10 outfits were displayed at the show with another 20 hung around the church. Newpower said they sold a "good chunk of them by the end." The organization also raised money through raffles and silent auctions for nearly 70 gift-filled baskets.
Loving Hearts is a thrift store located in Seeley Lake that has been helping residents through bill assistance and other outreach since their inception in 1989. Volunteer Nancy Shirley said on top of financially supporting local organizations such as the Food Bank, the Senior Center, Meals on Wheels, Seeley Lake Elementary and the Fire Department, they also donate some of their inventory to residents in need and offer scholarships to Seeley-Swan High School seniors every year. Over the past 30 years, they have returned over $100,000 to the community.
