Water meters being replaced in Seeley

The Seeley Lake Water District would like to inform our customers that this month we will begin the process of replacing the water meters throughout the entire district. Replacing a water meter should take approximately 15-30 minutes, during which time we will need to turn the water off to your home. There will be no cost to the customer for this work. We will do everything we can to make this process as trouble-free as possible to all of our customers and ask for your patience during this time.

As with most equipment, water meters wear out over time and have to be replaced. Additionally, the equipment that reads the meters is failing and causing meter reading to be labor intensive and inefficient. Although the Water District has sufficient funds to replace the meters, we have applied to both the State of Montana and Missoula County for ARPA funding (these are COVID Infrastructure Funds specifically for water and wastewater projects). Potentially the ARPA funds could reimburse the district for 50-100% of the cost of the new water meters and reading equipment, but we will not know if the district has been successful in securing any of these funds until at least September 2021. It would be phenomenal to have the cost of the water meter project partially or entirely paid for with grant funds; however, either way there will be no out of pocket cost to our customers.

Within a week or so we will start the process of going door to door to replace the water meters. Primarily this will be done between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. Monday through Friday. If your water meter is in a crawl space and has an access that needs to be cleared, or it is hard to reach, or it would be more convenient for you to make an appointment to have this work done, please call the office at 406-677-2559. Additionally, please call the office with any questions or concerns. Again, we appreciate your understanding during this process and apologize for any inconvenience this work may cause.
