SEELEY LAKE - On Thursday, July 15 from 6 – 7:30 p.m. the US Forest Service, Montana Department of Natural Resources and Conservation and Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks will host guest speaker Smoke Elser at the Big Larch Campground amphitheater in Seeley Lake.
Elser spent over 50 years as a wilderness outfitter in the Bob Marshall Wilderness and as an instructor in packing, horsemanship and minimum impact camping. US Forest Service employees will join him as they discuss the history of packing, stock use and backcountry recreation. Joining the speakers will be a couple of the hard-working horses and mules from the Seeley Lake District pack string.
The multi-agency working group hosting this event will be organizing outdoor educational events throughout the year. These events will be called the Seeley Lake Outdoor Series and include a variety of outdoor topics. Bench seating is available at the amphitheater but limited, so please bring a lawn chair, and join us on July 15th for a rare and exciting outdoor learning opportunity.
For more information please contact Heather Martens at the US Forest Service, Seeley Lake Ranger District at 406-677-2233.
