SLE students move on to high school

SEELEY LAKE - Seeley Lake Elementary School eighth graders enjoyed their last day as students in the school's gymnasium during their graduation ceremony Tuesday, June 8.

As tradition, the graduates presented flowers to their parents in the audience. Amaiya Dalrymple and Bailey Bartlett introduced the ceremony.

"The reason you're getting wonderful flowers is because you have done so much for us for so many years," they said. "We also want to show some recognition for fathers. We admire all the fathers out there who keep us going ... [and push us] further. And let's just say we would not be here without help from you."

Seth Dunster and Dylan Wilkinson received the Presidential Academic Achievement Award. The award is for students who receive an A- grade point average in seventh and eighth grade and test at or higher than the benchmark for science, math and English in MAP testing.

The SLE staff chose Sam Ayers for the 2021 recipient of the Teacher's Choice Award. They felt he was a positive role model for other students and who has been helpful, considerate and thoughtful inside and outside the school. Ayers also received the Golden Eagle Award for his ability to overcome obstacles as well as a $20 gift card to The Ice Cream Place as part of a raffle.

Closing out the ceremony, Tyler Haines offered a farewell speech.

"I have been here at SLE for around 10 years," he said. "And in that time [I] will be [soaking] in memories that will last a lifetime. ... SLE has been such a fun and great school to go to."
