Kindergarteners celebrate growth

SEELEY LAKE – The Seeley Lake Elementary kindergarten class said their classmates' name in unison as photos from the year's activities showed during the slideshow at their Completion Ceremony June 4. Captured in snapshots, parents and family members could see their children learning, playing and interacting throughout the year.

The class cohesion was tangible as they echoed each other's names throughout the dark SLE gymnasium. As the lights returned, teacher Sheila Devins said "Flat tire" the class, again in unison, said "Shhhh" and were silent.

SLE's Kindergarten Completion Ceremony highlighted the progress the students made learning their letters, writing, reading, math, science and art.

Devins said when they started they didn't all know which way to write letters or how to write their names. Now they are writing complete sentences, they can understand and complete number sentences and have done investigations in science.

Each student received a completion certificate highlighting these accomplishments. The certificate documented their success in reading, writing, math and getting along well with others.

"They have been a very fun class to work with and it was absolutely amazing that they wore those masks for so long," Devins said. "I will miss you all next year."
