MISSOULA - Athletes from Seeley-Swan's track team competed at the District 13C meet May 14-15 in Missoula and broke five meet records. The Lady Blackhawks took first place, earning 184 points, well ahead of Drummond in second with 130. Seeley-Swan's Boys took second with 134 points behind Drummond's 168.
Walker McDonald blew the competition away in the Discus and Shot Put, setting meet records in both events. In the Discus he threw 164 feet 10 inches, besting second place by 35 feet. He won the Shot Put with a throw of 51 feet 9.5 inches. Both throws furthered his school records and are the farthest in the State Class C this season.
The Lady Blackhawks 4x100 relay team consisting of Klaire Kovatch, Sariah Maughan, Emily Maughan and Hannah Ayers set a new meet record of 51.17 seconds. Their time is the fastest time run in the State Class C this year and less than a half second off the school record.
Emily set a new meet record in the Long Jump flying 16 feet 8.25 inches and ranks fourth in the state Class C. In addition to her Long Jump victory Emily won the 100 and 200.
Klaire earned a meet record in the Discus, throwing 155 feet 6.5 inches. She also won both the Shot Put with a throw of 35 feet 8.5 inches and the Javelin with a throw of 116 feet 11 inches.
Other top finishers for the Lady Blackhawks include Sariah who won the 400, 800 and 1600. MacKenzy Best won the 3200. Kyla Conley earned second in the 200 and High Jump and fourth in the 3200. Hannah Ayers took third in the 100, 800 and Long Jump. Dani Sexton took third in the Javelin and second in the 3200.
Top finishers on the Boys side include Owen Hoag who dominated the sprints winning the 100, 200 and 400. Klayton Kovatch took the top spot in High Jump, second in Discus and sixth in Long Jump. Eric Lorentz took second in the Shot Put and Javelin and fifth in the Discus. Chase Haines took third in both the 110 and 300 Hurdles and fifth in the 200. Sawyer Shelmerdine took third in the 400 and fourth in the 1600. Hunter Coyle took third in the 3200, fifth in the 1600 and sixth in the 800. Conner Chadwick took fourth in the 3200.
Both the Boys and Girls 4x400 relay teams came out on top.
This week Seeley-Swan heads to the Western C Divisional in Missoula May 21 and 22.
