Above all remain helpful and kind

SEELEY LAKE - You hear people talk about Seeley being such a friendly/helpful place. I hope after this virus is done, people are still helpful.

Leaving the grocery store last Tuesday, I observed an elderly lady struggling with her (passenger) door parked next to me. I reached out and grabbed the top of the door and commented how heavy these darn doors are and held it for her. She smiled and got out of the Subaru.

In the meantime, across the car a woman was bellering “Six feet. Six feet.” The elderly woman passed around me and smiled. The woman moved to the front of the Subaru still bellering “Six feet. Six feet.” I asked her where she was from and she stated “Seeley.” As I pulled out, I looked at her plate - from Idaho.

This really bothered me. I was helping someone, we were outside, I wasn’t touching her and we were about three feet apart. Although, if the elderly lady needed help, I would of held her hand to help her out. I appreciate the “fear” people have of the virus. I have two parents in their 80’s. We can still use a nice tone and show some appreciation for people who are trying to help.

I returned on Wednesday to the grocery store. I asked a gal in line how she was and she stated “Not great today.” I told her I would carry out her bags and help her to her van even though the cashier offered a bagger to take them out.

As I was helping her out, she held my arm. She was worried about putting her cart away. Two young men from Seeley grabbed her cart and put it away. This gal was very thankful to all of us for helping.

Thanks for restoring mine and maybe the young men’s attitude to step up when there appears to be a hand needed. I hope those moving to our small towns adapt to our ways and leave the big city attitudes behind.

Thank you Seeley for being helpful and kind when someone is in need. I hope we continue with that attitude.
