The Missoula Public Health City-County Health Department’s National Diabetes Prevention Program called Prevent T2 is starting a new virtual session starting May 19 from 4 – 5 p.m.
Prevent T2 is a lifestyle balance program carefully designed to help reduce the risk of developing Type 2 diabetes. The program is based on research studies regarding the best ways to help people make life-long changes that support healthy eating, an active lifestyle and weight loss and management.
The classes are held weekly for the first 12 weeks, bi-monthly for 4 months and then monthly for six months. The program first covers nutrition and exercise and then the remainder of the program is focused on making changes to your lifestyle that support your weight and health goals. Regular weigh-ins, support meetings, plus food and exercise journals keep everyone on track.
Individuals covered by health insurance offered through Missoula County and City of Missoula, can take the class at no cost since it is covered through the health insurance plan. Partnership Health Center patients & WIC participants clients may also be eligible to receive a full scholarship. Most Medicaid clients are covered at 100%.
