SEELEY LAKE - Residents and visitors will be able to pick up the new Blackfoot, Clearwater, Swan Valleys Visitors and Resource Guide entitled "Dream, Explore, Discover." The guide will be available at the Seeley Lake Historical Museum and Visitors Center or local businesses throughout the area. The last time a visitors guide was produced for the area was in 2013.
Seeley Lake Area Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Lisa Hayhurst said readers can expect to see new content with "larger, beautiful pictures." The magazine is divided into three sections highlighting "Our Area," "Recreation" and "Points of Interest." The committee wrote the content based on things that visitors were always asking about and resources they know locals need.
"I love how it is for everything," Hayhust said. "If you are living here and you need something, you are moving here or visiting, it knocks out all three. It is convenient with everything in one place, saving paper and saving trees."
Writers included Carrie Sokoloski, Sarah Wilburn and Chantel Lynch who compiled content from various resources. Many local photographers are featured in the guide. The Chamber contracted with the Seeley Swan Pathfinder to print 10,000 copies of the 8.5 x 11-inch magazine-style guide. It is 36 pages with a detachable area map in the centerfold.
Advertising within the Guide was only offered to Chamber members. The committee added eight more pages to the originally proposed guide to include all the Chamber members who wanted to advertise and keep the ad rate below 40%.
Hayhurst said having the opportunity to advertise in the Guide is a perk of being a Chamber member. While she will not be the executive director in two years when this guide needs updating, she would highly recommend limiting it to Chamber members only.
"People always ask what am I getting for my membership? This is a pretty good perk," Hayhurst said. "This new publication means a great deal to the Seeley Lake community and surrounding areas as a whole. It will professionally paint the picture of local points of interest, displaying multiple, beautiful pictures from the area while promoting the local Chamber member businesses."
Hayhurst continued, "This was done by many, many people and I'm pretty proud of it. I think it is a beautiful guide and I think it is going to really tell the story of our area."
