SEELEY LAKE - Clearwater Resource Council (CRC) invited members of the public and local organizations to celebrate Earth Day with them at a chili tailgate Thursday, April 22. Attendees were welcome to have some complimentary chili and lemonade with reusable utensils while listening to organizations present their messages.
CRC Executive Director Caryn Miske said they had been organizing the event for a little over a month. This is the first time an event like this has taken place for them.
"The purpose of being here today is to bring the community together to celebrate Earth Day and to have all of the organizations that contribute to protecting the natural resources in the Clearwater Valley come together and do some outreach to the public and get their messages out," Miske said. "So we're hoping that some of the messages can be used throughout the year to improve our natural resources in the valley."
Attendees also had the opportunity to win CRC merchandise. Bob Homuth won the raffle.
Tables were hosted by the following organizations: U.S. Forest Service; Montana Fish, Wildlife, and Parks; Tamaracks Resort; Loving Hearts Thrift Store; Seeley Lake Historical Society; Seeley Lake Community Foundation; the Clark Fork Coalition and Audubon Society.
