Lady Blackhawks soar through District 13C tournament

SEELEY LAKE - The Lady Blackhawks defended their home court from the Victor Pirates and the Granite Prospectors to earn the top District 13C trophy.

The Lady Blackhawks had a bye in the first round of the tournament and met very little resistance from the Pirates in the second round Feb. 18 defeating them 85-15.

The Prospectors provided a little more of a fight in the championship game Feb. 20 but the Lady Blackhawks were still able to run to a 36-12 lead by half time.

The Lady Blackhawks held off the Prospectors in the second half despite the Prospectors dialing in their long shots. They sunk 5 three-pointers and closed the gap a little but the Lady Blackhawks prevailed 61-45.

Four Lady Blackhawks scored into the double digits with Bethany Hoag leading the way scoring 18 points. Sariah Maughan scored 14 points followed by Emily Maughan with 12 and Klaire Kovatch with 10. Aspen Conley had 5 points while Dani Sexton had 2.
