Sharing the Word

Passages

Many, many moons ago winter always had some time to hunt the big cats. There were always some guys who would show up at the old place on the Summit to give chase.

My dear wife, who in 53 years never shirked her responsibilities, was up at 4:30. Known as "the queen of hospitality" she was gett'n ready to feed the crew pancakes and eggs. And for a perfect morning she had some soothing Christian music on the stereo. One of the Mennonite men came down the stairs say'n "even pleasant music to get up by."

There was four of us that day as we bowed our heads and I gave the blessing. I was brought up with. "Bless us O Lord and these thy gifts which we are about to receive from thy bounty through Christ Our Lord. Amen."

There we were two Mennonites, one Mormon and me known as a follower of the Way. As we ate the great loggers fare and drank the good coffee, we shared the word. It told us that Jesus and Jesus alone was crucified for our sins. As Paul put it in 1 Cor. 2 "I resolved to know nothing while I was with you except Jesus Christ and him crucified." It was not for us to judge who was saved and who wasn't. That belongs to Jesus who will rescue believers from the coming wrath.

We like what it sez in Hebrews 4, "The word of God is alive and active, sharper than any double-edged sword ..."

So we were as Jesus said, "Where two or three come together in my name, He would be with us" and He was.

Nowadays close fellowship is gett'n harder because of this COVID. It's like a curse on the land. But we must do as the book of Hebrews sez 10:24-25, "All the more as you see the day approaching." Gathering together in fellowship is where it's at.

The Mormon lad always sent us a thank you card and sometimes a smoked turkey. He addressed it to "The Terrillions at zero stress Ranch."
