Lady Blackhawks tame Tigers, bury Prospectors

SEELEY LAKE - The Lady Blackhawks chalked up two more victories last week to extend their record to 11-0. They hosted the Darby Tigers Feb. 5 and traveled to Philipsburg to take on the Granite Prospectors Feb. 6.

The Tigers stood no chance against the Lady Blackhawks. The score was 24-0 in just the first quarter. The Lady Blackhawks finished them off 61-16.

Three Lady Blackhawks scored into the double digits. Klaire Kovatch led the way with 13 while Emily Maughan scored 12 and Sariah Maughan put up 11.

The Prospectors put up a bit more of a fight for the Lady Blackhawks as the teams remained within a few baskets of each other through the first three quarters. The Lady Blackhawks pulled out the stops in the fourth quarter outscoring the Prospectors 23-7 for a final score of 65-42.

Emily led the Lady Blackhawks with 17 points followed by Sariah with 16 and Klaire with 13.

The Lady Blackhawks have one more regular season game before the district tournament. They host Victor Feb. 11 with JV starting at 5:30 p.m.
