A Note from Linda...
We are fortunate in the Seeley Swan Valley to have both the Mission Mountains Mercantile (MMM) in Condon and the Seeley Lake Senior Center (SLSC) in Seeley Lake providing meals for seniors.
The Mission Mountains Mercantile offers senior meals Monday, Thursday and Saturday for pick-up, and Meals on Wheels (MOW) delivered to homebound individuals. Grace Siloti updates her Facebook page with pictures and commentary on the current meals. For details, please visit the Mission Mountains Mercantile Facebook page.
To receive carry-out senior lunches, call (406) 754-2387 the day before you want to pick up the meal. Senior lunches are ready for pick-up between 12-1 p.m. You are asked to contribute $5 for each meal. At the time of pick-up, you may pay with cash or check, which are preferable or credit card.
If you are homebound and need your meal delivered, arrangements can be made by calling (406) 754-2387 and speaking with Siloti.
The Seeley Lake Senior Center Monday-Friday offers both carry-out meals available for pick-up, and Meals on Wheels (MOW) delivered to homebound individuals.
The SLSC provided over 6,000 meals from April 2020 to the end of December 2020 paid for by Missoula Aging Services with pandemic funds from the CARES Act. Unfortunately, this funding source has been exhausted.
Effective Jan. 4, those 60 years and older are asked to contribute $5 for each meal received. Meals for those under 60 will be $8 unless they meet one of the following exemptions: spouse or caregiver of a participant age 60 or older; Medicaid waiver meal recipient; recipient with a disability receiving MOW; or a MOW volunteer.
To receive a carry-out meal, call (406) 677-2008 the night before to place an order. Meals can be picked up between 10:45 a.m. - 12 p.m. at the front of the SLSC. At the time of pick-up, please pay with cash, check or meal-punch-card purchased that day or in advance. A 10-meal ticket is $50, and a 20-meal ticket is $100. If paying with cash, please bring small denominations. If you have not paid in advance, the SLSC will record your meal when you pick it up and an invoice will be mailed to you the following month based on the number of meals received.
If you are homebound and need MOW delivered to you, please call the SLSC at (406) 677-2008 to request. MOW are delivered by volunteers only. Currently, the SLSC has an urgent need for MOW delivery drivers. If you would like to volunteer, please call Hope Lewis at (406) 677-2008.
A low-income program is also available for any area senior unable to afford the meals at either SLSC or MMM. Please call Linda Howard with Missoula Aging Services at (406) 541-7688 for information.
The very best of health to you! Linda
