MISSOULA – AARP will be offering free tax service at Southgate Mall, in the former location of Lane Bryant, between Hoagieville and Champs in the Dillard’s wing, on Mondays and Wednesdays. Appointments will be accepted between 9 a.m. – 12 p.m. on Mondays and Wednesdays by calling 406-531-2701. Please don’t call until Feb. 8th for the next block of appointments. Also every Saturday beginning Feb. 6 through March 13 from 8:30 a.m. – 2:30 p.m., the VITA Program will be offering free tax help to those with income below $57,000 in room 108 of the Gallagher Business Building, University of Montana. IRS certified volunteers receive training to help prepare basic tax returns.

Volunteers are unable to prepare returns with: incomplete information; returns with a prior year carryover; Schedule C with expenses greater than $5,000, with depreciation or that show a loss; Schedule D with undocumented basis or losses that carry over to next year; Schedule E; Schedule F or Schedule H.
