Rough week for Blackhawks

SEELEY LAKE - The Seeley-Swan Blackhawks came up short in both their games last week falling to Darby at home Jan. 15 and Granite on the road Jan. 16.

The Blackhawks had their hands full taking on Darby's Tigers and found themselves trailing early in the game. By the half they were down 13 to 27. While they had a better second half they couldn't close in on the Tigers. The final score was 38 to 59.

Oskar Murphy, Chase Haines and Jason James lead the Blackhawks with 9 points each. Murphy put up 3 of the team's 4 three pointers. Ben Haley and Sawyer Shelmerdine each had 4 while Klayton Kovatch had 2 points.

The Blackhawks shooting was off throughout the game. This could be seen in their free-throw stats as they hit just 6 of 17 attempted.

The Blackhawks met a similar fate facing the Granite Prospectors. The Prospectors buried them 6-20 in the first quarter and 9-17 in the second quarter. Again the Blackhawks had a stronger second half falling back just 6 points in the third quarter and then matched the Prospectors in the final quarter. The final score was 38-66.

Shelmerdine and Haley led the Blackhawks against the Prospectors with 13 and 10 points respectively. James scored 9 while Murphy had 4 and Haines 2 points. Haley hit two of the Blackhawks' three three-pointers.

The Blackhawks varsity hosts Lincoln Jan. 22 at 3:30 p.m.
