Lighting up Seeley Lake - Tour of Lights

SEELEY LAKE – After receiving grant funds totaling $1,500 to "Light up Seeley Lake," the Seeley Lake Community Foundation has distributed more than a half mile of lights to 28 participants along Highway 83, including two honorable mentions, from the Seeley Lake Historical Museum and Visitors Center north to Energy Partners. Not only is Highway 83 through Seeley Lake offering more of a light display this holiday season, the community as a whole appears to have joined the effort.

As part of Reimaging Rural Series, the Foundation received a $2,000 grant from the Montana Community Foundation for their "Big Easy Win" idea. While $500 will be used to support Winterfest and advertising, $1,500 was allocated to #lightingupSeeleyLake.

White lights, timers and extension cords were available to any building visible along Highway 83 for illumination. Organizers Carla Schade and Kris Gullikson encouraged everyone to keep it simple and light up a window, doorway, pole, tree or railing.

This year, nearly every business and some residences visible along Highway 83 got into the spirit, either by putting up their own light display or hanging the white lights from the Foundation. The Foundation awarded Rovero's and the Heritage Building with honorable mentions because of their financial support of the project.

"Hope you have fun driving around and enjoying the lights springing up all over town," wrote the Foundation in an email. "Let's have a big hooray for some holiday community spirit!

While not an exhaustive list, the Pathfinder wanted to highlight few of the areas around Seeley Lake with great lights. We encourage everyone to get out and drive around this holiday season. The best time to see the displays is before 10 p.m.
