The Giving Tree is the first thing customers see when they walk in the Merc. Gifts are handed out throughout the holiday season as they are donated.
The Alpine Artisan's Art Supplies Giving Tree is also part of the Giving Tree providing art supplies at Swan Valley Elementary School.
SWAN VALLEY - The Swan Valley Community Giving Tree was put up this week at the Mission Mountains Mercantile and is ready to accept gifts. Also added to the Community Giving Tree are tags with varying amounts to support the Alpine Artisans Art Supplies Giving Tree for Swan Valley Elementary.
Anyone is encouraged to leave a wrapped gift under the tree to be handed out to those who are less fortunate or alone this season. Please mark the gift for man, woman, boy or girl. The Merc will ensure it goes to a good home.
"It's brought so much joy over the last two years. Your gifts really touched the heart," wrote Grace Siloti on the Mission Mountains Mercantile Facebook page. "I gave one to a gentleman last year and he left with tears in his eyes. I was so shocked. You never know what a gift will do."
The funds raised for art supplies will help supplement the available funds for teachers to purchase art supplies for their classrooms and encourage development of the arts in area students. Anyone wishing to donate can choose a tag from the tree or give any amount to the cashier.
Siloti said, "Lots of love and giving going on here at the Mercantile."
