Chief updates Board on FEMA audit and office closure

Seeley Lake Fire Board

SEELEY LAKE – At the Seeley Lake Fire Board’s monthly meeting Nov. 17, Fire Chief Dave Lane provided updates regarding an audit and office closure.

Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) is auditing the Fire District for the grant they received in 2018. The District was randomly selected for the audit to ensure the money is being spent according to the grant. Chief Dave Lane and District Administrator Lynn Richards have complied the requested documents. They will be submitted before the Dec. 14 deadline.

In response to the increasing number of COVID-19 cases statewide, the Fire Department has closed the office to the public. Lane said this is in step with the other departments in Missoula County. Those that need assistance can call the Department at 677-2400 and in an emergency call 9-1-1.

Even though the office is closed, the community Angel Tree will be located outside so members of the community can select an Angel. Wrapped packages must be returned by 5 p.m. Dec. 18 so they can be delivered Dec. 21.

The next Fire Board meeting is Dec. 15 at 6 p.m.
