Blackhawks clash with Warriors in the rain

SEELEY LAKE – The Seeley-Swan Blackhawks hosted the Arlee Warriors for their last home game of the season Oct. 17.

The Blackhawks came out strong scoring a touchdown in the opening minutes and then following up with another with four minutes remaining in the first quarter. Both touchdowns were passes where Quarterback Walker McDonald connected with Owen Hoag. The first touchdown was a 29-yard play while the second was for 70 yards. Neither conversion was successful.

Both teams had several unsuccessful drives throughout the rest of the half until the final minute. Arlee took the ball in for a touchdown with 21 seconds on the clock. The Blackhawks foiled their conversion attempt.

The third quarter was a punter's paradise as neither team had much luck moving the ball forward. McDonald had 5 punts in the game for a total of 199 yards with several of them coming in the third quarter.

The Warriors started out the final quarter by tying the game up at 12-12.

The rain, that had held off for most of the game, started pouring down. It washed away the Blackhawks hopes of completing a few more of those big pass plays but it didn't seem to phase the Warriors as they pounded in several more touchdowns. The final score was 12-32.

This week the Blackhawks head to Plains for their final game of the season Oct. 23 with kickoff scheduled for 7 p.m. Check the Seeley-Swan High School Activities Facebook page for updates and live streaming of games.
