MISSOULA – Thursday, Oct. 15 the Missoula County Board of Health reviewed a proposed revision to the Board’s Face-covering Rule and accepted the revisions effective immediately.
The revisions to the Board’s Face-covering Rule bring local rules into better alignment with the Governor’s face-covering directive and face-covering exemptions. Accepted revisions to the local rule include the following:
• People ages five and older in Missoula County are required to wear face-coverings as outlined in the rule.
• The rule retains a more stringent prohibition against face shields due to lack of evidence that face shields are protective of others; and
• Adds a definition and provision allowing enhanced face shields designed to capture respiratory droplets around the sides and bottom of the shield; and
• Clarifies language for better consistency with the language used in the Governor’s directive; and
• Refines language based on experience with interpreting and implementing the rule.
The Health Officer will issue the content of the revised rule as a Health Officer Order under 50-2-118 MCA. To view the entire Board of Health's Revised Face-covering Rule visit https://www.seeleylake.com/home/customer_files/article_documents/missoulacountyfacecoveringrule.pdf.
