PHILIPSBURG – The Seeley-Swan Blackhawks headed up Flint Creek to face the Titans Oct. 2.
The Blackhawks had a good opening drive, marching the ball all the way down to within the 10-yard line before being shut down by the Titan’s defense.
After the initial success, the Blackhawks found themselves up the creek without a paddle. The Titans ran in two touchdowns in the first quarter and three more in the second racking up 36 points while shutting the Blackhawks out.
The Blackhawks found more success stopping the Titans offense in the second half, allowing just one touchdown in each of the remaining quarters but were still unable to score. The final score was 0-50.
The Blackhawks rushed for just 122 yards and 28 yards in the air. Eric Lorentz led the efforts on the ground carrying the ball 14 times for 67 yards. Walker McDonald completed 4 of 5 passes hitting Sawyer Shelmerdine three times for 27 yards.
On the defense, Owen Hoag and Garrett Saalfeld were each credited with 7 solo tackles. Hoag had the team’s only interception while McDonald had one sack for a 16-yard loss.
The Blackhawks face the Darby Tigers for the Blackhawks’ Homecoming Oct. 10 with kickoff at 7 p.m. As of press time, 200 fans will be allowed to attend and must follow social distancing guidelines and wear masks. Check the Seeley-Swan High School Activities Facebook page for updates.
