SEELEY LAKE – Homecoming week and weekend festivities for Seeley-Swan High School look a little different this year due to COVID-19 restrictions. SSHS Principal Kellen Palmer said they are still trying to make it fun throughout the week. The homecoming parade typically held on Saturday morning has been canceled. While the games will be played Saturday, spectators are limited.
The SSHS Booster Club members and other volunteers decorated Airport Road to the High School and along Highway 83 on Sunday, Oct. 4 to show their support of the Blackhawks. They also provided businesses with black and gold streamers to decorate their business if they wanted it.
SSHS has dress-up days all week ending Friday with poster making, a barbecue and games for the students Friday afternoon instead of the traditional parade Saturday morning.
"We are not able to hold events that will cause groups of people to gather," said Palmer.
The Lady Blackhawks take on Victor Saturday afternoon with the junior varsity starting at 1 p.m. Spectators will be limited to two tickets per uniformed player. There will also be a student section at the volleyball game for those students who sign up in the office.
Prior to the football game Saturday night, the Boosters Club will be holding a pre-game burger barbecue at the south end zone of the football field. People can choose from a Two Creeks burger or cheeseburger that will be served with chips, cookie and a drink for $5. They will also have Blackhawk gear for sale during the barbecue. The Booster Club appreciates the donations from Rovero's, Pop's Place, Lindey's and Ken Kovatch to make the barbecue possible.
The Blackhawks kick off against the Darby Tigers at 7 p.m. Spectators are limited to 200. The cost to attend is $5. There will be a student section on the north end zone for students who sign up in the office. Homecoming royalty will be recognized and king and queen crowned during half time of the football game.
