General Election opportunities, ballots mailed Oct. 9

Over 70,000 ballots will be mailed out Friday, Oct. 9 to registered Missoula County voters for the November General Election. Residents will be able to register and vote during a satellite event in Seeley Lake from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 20 at the Seeley Lake Tax Extension Office, 3360 HWY 83 N. hosted by the Missoula County Elections Center.

All mail ballots are due by 8 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 3 at the Elections Office at 140 N. Russell St. Votes must be received by then, not postmarked. Postage will be paid on all mail ballots for the election.

Ballots become available for in-person voting Friday, Oct. 2. Voters can come by the Elections Office at 140 N. Russell St. in Missoula from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on weekdays up until Election Day. The Office will also be open from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 24, and Saturday, Oct. 31. Operating hours will extend until 6:30 p.m. the week before the election.

On Election Day Nov. 3, voters can drop off their ballots at Seeley Lake Elementary, Clearwater Credit Union (Reserve St.), Clinton Community Center, the County Fairgrounds, Frenchtown Fire Station, Lolo School, Missoula Early Learning Center, Potomac-Greenough Community Center, Spring Meadows Fire Station and the University of Montana Adams Center. Drive-thru drop off will be located at McCormick Park.

Local polling places will be closed Nov. 3. Voters can double-check their address and their registration status at http://www.MyVoterPageMT.com.

Voters will be able to register and vote on Election Day in person at the Elections Office however registrants are discouraged from waiting until then. Due to limited Office capacity, some voters will have to wait outside until others leave. All voters in line by 8 p.m. will be served.

Voters will be required to wear a face covering. Longer than usual wait times should be expected.

Other satellite events will take place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 13 at the Frenchtown Fire Station, 16875 Marion St. as well as from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 27 at the University of Montana Adams Center, 32 Campus Drive in Missoula.

The Ballot Interference Protection Act is currently enjoined, meaning that currently there are no limitations or reporting requirements on who can help another assist with delivering a ballot.
