Blackhawks fall to Blue Hawks

THOMPSON FALLS – The Seeley-Swan Blackhawks traveled to take on the Blue Hawks in Thompson Falls Sept. 11.

It was brutal game for the Blackhawks. They were down 22 points by the end of the first quarter and 38 by the half. While the second half wasn’t quite the blowout of the first, they fell 0-52.

The Blackhawks struggled to move the ball on the ground or in the air. It wasn’t for lack of trying as they had 32 carries but were only able to average 2.6 yards per carry for a total of 84 yards in the game. The Blackhawks were only able to complete one of three passes for just one yard.

With their passing and rushing shut down it did provide the opportunity for their punter, Walker McDonald, to shine. He punted four times averaging 43.5 yards per punt with a long of 57.

Head Coach Jay Crum said he felt the Blackhawks can be capable of competing with teams like the Blue Hawks but they were not mentally or physically prepared for it.

“I believe in the boys and in the coaches and we can turn this around but we cannot show up again like we did last Friday at Thompson Falls,” said Crum.

The Blackhawks next game is Sept. 18 at Mission with kickoff at 7 p.m. As of Monday, all spectators are welcome but must wear masks.
