Lady Blackhawks take down Eagles and Lynx

SEELEY LAKE – The Seeley-Swan Lady Blackhawks improved their record to 2-1 with a pair of wins last week against the Valley Christian Eagles and the Lincoln Lynx.

The Lady Blackhawks traveled to Missoula to take on the Eagles Sept. 3 and defeated them in four sets: 25-23, 25-15, 19-25 and 25-23.

The match was a first for the Lady Blackhawks playing without their fans attending due to COVID-19 restrictions. At their home games the number of fans has been limited but not eliminated.

Senior Aspen Conley described it as being very quiet without fans. She explained that the team has been working on building energy earlier in the matches along with ball control and communications.

"I feel like [having limited audiences] is why we are working on energy right now because the audience used to be part of our energy so now we have to make it up all on our own," said Conley.

The Lady Blackhawks were back on the home court, with their limited fans, to take on the Lynx Sept. 5. They made quick work of the Lynx defeating them in three sets: 25-13, 25-16 and 25-7.

Klaire Kovatch had 7 kills followed by Conley with 4 and Bethany Hoag with 3. Conley and Jordan Johnson had 9 assists each.

Dani Sexton scored on 3 aces while Ava Thornsberry had 2 aces.

This week the Lady Blackhawks head to Victor Sept. 10 and then host Granite Sept. 12. Check the Seeley-Swan High School Activities Facebook page for updates and live streaming of games.
