The disabled still want to enjoy public lands

I am writing about the letter from Mr. Bob Rathman in the July 16 Pathfinder paper.

Mr. Rathman says in his letter that the National Forest Service roads aren’t really closed because you can just walk around the gates.

I can’t really believe that Mr. Rathman is really so selfish and self-centered that he doesn’t understand that many taxpayers who support the National Forest Service are not capable of walking, riding a bicycle or horse. Many of us are disabled but still want to enjoy the public lands we support, including our veterans.

If Mr. Rathman wants to lose more weight he should walk a game trail where he has to step or climb over or under logs.

How is Mr. Rathman an authority on the reasons the National Forest Service closes roads and what states have National Forest Service public lands? I believe it would be much cheaper and more responsive to the public for the states to assume those responsibilities. This would be with the idea that none of those lands could be sold or traded.
