Three important things you need to know about in March

A Note from Linda

Hear the band? Join the March...for Meals 2020

Join us as we march into spring with our local Meals on Wheels (MOW) campaign. With your help, we can meet our 2020 goal of $5,000.

March for Meals – Seeley Lake is the annual fundraising event which helps pay for Seeley Lake's MOW Program. Meals cooked every morning, Monday through Friday at the Seeley Lake Senior Center are hand delivered by volunteers to homebound older adults in Seeley Lake. Our service goes beyond meal delivery at the door. We also help clients with much needed community resource coordination.

Money raised goes directly to Seeley Lake Senior Center. There are four easy ways to donate:

1. Write a check to MAS-Seeley Lake and bring it to Linda Howard in the Seeley Lake Community Foundation Building

2. Send a check written to MAS – Seeley Lake, Attention: Linda Howard, P.O. Box 25 Seeley Lake, MT 59868

3. On your phone Text M4M204 to 71777

4. On your computer go to https://app.mobilecause.com/vf/M4M20/LindaHoward click the DONATE button.

Get your taxes done at no-cost to you March 24 at the Seeley Lake Community Foundation Building

Seeley-Swan Resource Center has coordinated with the AARP Foundation Tax-Aide services to provide in-person, no-cost tax assistance, preparation and electronic filing in Seeley Lake. Professionally trained volunteers provide this service to taxpayers of all ages. AARP Foundation Tax-Aide is the nation's largest volunteer run, free tax preparation service. There's no fee and AARP membership is not required.

Check to see whether you qualify for money back to you by filing the Montana Elderly Homeowner/Renter Tax Credit for 2019, also known as "2EC"

"2EC" program is a property tax relief program that provides a refundable income tax credit of up to $1,000.

If you can answer "yes" to all of the following questions, then you may be eligible for the credit:

1. Were you 62 or older as of Dec. 31, 2019?

2. Did you occupy a Montana residence(s) as an owner or renter for 6 months or more during 2019?

3. Did you reside in Montana for nine months or more during 2019?

4. Was your total gross household income less than $45,000 in 2019?

To determine eligibility, you will need to complete Form 2EC which is available on the web at revenue.mt.gov. I can help you complete this form, to see if you qualify for money back on your property tax or rent!

Please call me, Linda Howard, to make an appointment for no-cost tax preparation and to complete your Form 2EC. My office, the Seeley-Swan Resource Center is located in the Seeley Lake Community Foundation Building, 3150 MT HWY 83 N. My office hours there are: Monday – Thursday 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Please contact me by phone (406) 541-7688. I'm also available from 8 a.m. – 12 p.m. on Fridays at the main Missoula Aging Services Building, phone 406-728-7682.

I look forward to hearing from you and the very best of health to you this spring!

Linda
