Sewer candidate forum, WUI cost share and Bob Marshall Music Festival fill Council agenda,

SEELEY LAKE - Next Monday’s meeting of the Seeley Lake Community Council promises to be quite lively: Sewer Board candidates will talk about their views on the project as part of a Sewer Candidates Forum. There are two vacancies on the Board and five candidates running: Tom Morris, Jason Gilpin, Carleen Gonder, Duane Anderson and Kyle Zumwalt.

All candidates have indicated that they will attend the Forum, with the exception of Tom Morris, who has a prior engagement. Morris also commented that while he has no problems stating his position, “if your intention is to have some kind of debate, I’m not interested.”

Max Rebholz, the wildfire preparedness coordinator with the Missoula County Office of Emergency Management, will precede the Sewer Forum. He will speak about a recently awarded grant that offers a cost-share program to residents in the Wildland Urban Interface. The program is centered on fuel mitigation and home hardening within the home ignition zone.

Next will be Heidi Obrien, Marketing Coordinator for Lewis & Clark Brewing Company. She will talk about her ideas for the Bob Marshall Music Festival. Heidi will also be in Seeley on Tuesday, March 10, and would be happy to meet with anybody one-on-one. “Folks are welcome to call/text me at 406-465-2938, and my email address is heidi@lewisandclarkbrewing.com.”

After Heidi the Sewer Candidates Forum will start.

Finally, a regular guest at the Council Seeley Lake District Ranger Quinn Carver will give an update about what’s going on at the District.

Everybody is invited to participate in the Council’s discussions on agenda items during the meeting, including community members who follow the meeting on Facebook. Like always, towards the end of the meeting there will be an opportunity for public comments on non-agenda items.

The informal part of the meeting will start at 5:30 p.m. next Monday, March 9, at the Seeley Lake Historical Museum and Visitors Center, 2920 Highway 83, with pizza and water. The formal meeting begins at 6 p.m.

For those of you who are not in Seeley or have to miss the meeting, the meeting will be live streamed or it can be replayed later on the Seeley Lake Community Council’s Facebook page. Visit the page and click on the window that says “Seeley Lake Community Council is live now” to watch during the meeting. To send a question during the meeting, use the chat box on the right side of the screen. Council member Tom Browder will relay it to the speaker.
