Traversing the landscape on his own power

"I'm just a regular guy who skis a lot," said Ovando resident Tim Swanberg who skate skied the 100K, nearly 65 miles, trek from Lincoln to Seeley Lake in 14 hours Feb. 15. While the conditions were far from perfect, this was the first time everything aligned to attempt the distance in one shot since Swanberg had the idea more than five years ago.

Swanberg's first experience with long distance was as a 16-year-old. He and his friend Mike Lemon, 15, hiked over Pyramid Pass in early June, into Big Salmon Lake and out at Holland Lake. They were able to hitchhike back towards the Pyramid Pass Trail...
