SEELEY LAKE - The Board of Trustees for the Seeley Lake Elementary School District is pleased to announce three finalists for the position of District Superintendent. The community is invited to a Meet and Greet in the Seeley Lake Elementary Library at 12:30 p.m. Sunday, March 1 and can attend the interviews that begin at 1 p.m.
The Board reviewed 10 applicants for the superintendent position at their Feb. 18 meeting. They narrowed down the candidates to six. By the end of the week one had already accepted a position elsewhere.
Candidates will tour the facility at 11 a.m. and then will meet with the faculty at 11.30 a.m. Following the meet and greet and all of the candidate interviews, the board will take public comment from the community and then convene in close session to review all of the background check material. The Board will reconvene in an open session and deliberate and can either make a decision that evening or may defer to a later meeting.
The following are the three candidates listed in order of their interview time. All times are approximate. The interviews are open to the public.
1 – 1:45 p.m. Jon Konen: Konen has been the principal of Lincoln Elementary in Great Falls, Mont. since 2007. He previously served as a K-12 principal/athletic director for the Power Public Schools in Power, Mont. Konen holds a bachelor’s degree in education from Montana State University and a master’s degree in educational leadership from the University of Phoenix.
1:45 – 2:30 p.m. Eric Larson: Larson currently serves as the assistant high school principal in Stevensville, Mont. Before joining the staff in Stevensville in 2019, Larson served as the director of student services/assistant superintendent in Hamilton, Mont. for four years and as the principal of Daly Elementary in Hamilton for seven years. Larson holds a bachelor’s degree in health and human performance with an emphasis in teaching from the University of Montana and a master’s degree in educational leadership from the University of Montana.
2:30 – 3:15 p.m. Josh Gibbs: Gibbs currently serves as the superintendent/principal of the Winnett K-12 School District in Winnett, Mont. Prior to joining the Winnett School District in 2018, Gibbs served as a teacher and assistant technology director in the Cut Bank School District in Cut Bank, Mont. for five years. He has a bachelor’s degree in elementary education from Montana State – Northern and a master’s degree in educational leadership from Rocky Mountain College.
