SLE Special Education Director named Teacher of the Semester

SEELEY LAKE – Special Education Director and Special Education Teacher Janina Bradley was recognized as the Seeley Lake Elementary Teacher of the Semester at the Seeley Lake Elementary School Board meeting Feb. 18. Superintendent Daniel Schrock chose Bradley for her hard work and dedication while serving more than 30 students all year.

Schrock brought back the student of the week to the school this year. He also chose to recognize the teachers because, “It is simply the right thing to do in being appreciative of their efforts and the direct impact that they have upon their students and our school district.”

This is Bradley’s first year at SLE. She moved her family to Seeley Lake from Missoula after accepting the position.

Schrock said Bradley has a caseload of 32 students, which he expects will be up to 36 students by the end of the year. The high average caseload is 20 students per teacher. These are the students that need the most help. He emphasized her position is very challenging and is incredibly valuable to SLE.

Because this is the Office of Public Instruction’s review year there is an additional requirements for Bradley surrounding testing, communication with parents and collaboration within the Individualized Education Plan (IEP) team to ensure its implementation. She also works closely with teachers so they can best administer accommodations in their classrooms while honoring Free to Appropriate Public Education in the least restrictive environment possible.

“She is a very talented young lady,” said Schrock. “We are very honored to have her as part of our team. It has been an honor to try and mentor her, to support her and to encourage her because it is challenging work.”

Addressing Bradley Schrock added, “I appreciate you greatly.”
