Help your child get ready for kindergarten

Community members are invited to a series of free, family workshops hosted by Potomac School to learn how to prepare their child for kindergarten. Childcare is provided while adults learn how to support children’s literacy development. Then the whole family can “play” with literacy together.

At each session, activities will include games, crafts, and make-and-take activities, just to name a few. We hope you will join the fun! You do not need to attend all sessions, come when you can.

The sessions started Feb. 19. The next session is March 4 in the Potomac School kindergarten and first grade classrooms. All sessions run from 6:30 – 8 p.m.

• March 4: Literacy Happens in the Living Room

• April 1: Literacy Happens in the Kitchen

• April 29: Literacy Happens in the Bedroom and Bathroom

• May 20: Literacy Happens Out and About

Seeley Lake Library news

SEELEY LAKE - The Seeley Lake Library Book Club will meet on Wednesday, March 25 at 11 a.m. to discuss Robin Sloan’s “Mr. Penumbra’s 24-Hour Bookstore.”

This story follows the life of Clay Jannon, a young man who loses his job as a web designer during the recession and begins a job at a 24-hour bookstore. Clay soon discovers that this is not a normal bookstore so he begins his own investigation to see just what is going on.

Highly acclaimed, this book has been described as a surreal adventure where old ways and new ways of accessing knowledge meet.

All are invited to join in the discussion. Books are available at the checkout desk.
