Candidate filings trigger Sewer District election May 5

Following the close of the Special District filing deadline Feb. 10, Seeley Lake Sewer Board is currently the only Special District election that will appear on the May 5 mail-in ballot. However, citizens can apply to be a write-in candidate until March 2. If someone does apply as a write-in candidate, this could trigger an election if there are more candidates than positions. However, their name would not appear on the ballot. The School District filings remain open until March 26.

Current candidates for Special Districts (Filing to be listed on the ballot closed. Write in candidate filing closes March 2 at 5 p.m.):

• Greenough-Potomac Fire, 2 – 3-year terms: John (Jack) Mulcare and Gary Burnett

• Seeley Lake Community Council, 2 – 3-year terms: Sally Johnson and Kristine Martin

• Seeley Lake Rural Fire District, 2 – 3-year terms: Scott Kennedy and Rita Rossi

Seeley Lake Sewer District, 2 – 4-year terms: Duane Anderson, Jason Gilpin, F. Carleen Gonder, Thomas Morris and Kyle Zumwalt

• Seeley Lake Water District, 3 – 4-year terms: Todd Johnson, Chris Lorentz and Kristine Martin

• Seeley-Swan Hospital District, 2 – 3-year terms: Twyla Johnson

Swan Valley Community Council, 1 – 3-year term: No applicants

• Swan Fire District, 1 – 3-year term from Missoula County and 1 – 3-year term from Lake County: James Boyd (Missoula County), no applicants for Lake County

Current candidates for local School Districts (Filing closed March 26 at 5 p.m.):

• Missoula County Pubic High Schools, 1 – 3-year term: No applicants

• Potomac School District #11, 3 – 3-year terms: Kelsy Ployhar

• Sunset School District #30, 1 – 3-year term and 1 – 1-year term: Matthew Knox (3 year) and Eric Skelton (1 year)

Swan Valley School District #33, 2 – 3-year terms and 1 – 2-year term: James Boyd (3 year)

• Seeley Lake School District #34, 2 – 3-year terms and 1 – 2-year term: Ryan Dunster (3 year) and Jody “Doc” Welter (2 year)

Candidates for special districts may file as a write-in candidate until 5 p.m. March 2. Elections where the number of candidates (including write in) is equal to or less than the number of positions will be canceled after March 2.
