SEELEY LAKE - On Jan. 21 the Seeley Lake Elementary School Board voted 3 - 2 not to renew Superintendent Daniel Schrock’s contract. *See the Jan 30 edition of the Pathfinder for details* He is invited to re-apply. The hiring process has already begun and the school board is accepting applications.
The hiring process is at minimum $8,000 and then another $4,000 is given to the selected applicant for moving expenses. This comes from your tax dollars. There is also the concern of starting over with new administration because it puts the kids in more uncertainty and chaos and will delay all the great progress that Mr. Schrock has made in untangling the mess that was left to him in the short five months he has been on the job.
If you would like to voice your support for the re-hiring of Mr. Schrock, please do so by:
1. Writing a letter describing the positive impact he has had on a child/student that you know, or other positive actions he has made within the school or community. Letters must be positive, respectful and THEY MUST INCLUDE: DATE, FIRST & LAST NAME BOTH SIGNED and PRINTED. Letters must be turned in NO LATER THAN FEB. 12 and may be left at The Seeley Office Stop in The Heritage Building.
2. Sign the petition when you drop your letters off.
3. Attend the next School Board meeting Feb. 18 at 5:30 p.m. and voice your concern. There is an opportunity for public comment.
4. Attend and be involved in the public interviews for Superintendent candidates.
5. Call and or write your School Board members.
6. Consider running for School Board. There are three positions coming up for election. See Heather Mincey at the Elementary School for an application packet. Applications are due in March.
7. Make sure you are a registered voter.
