SEELEY LAKE – Out of more than 20 entries, Susanna Andersen's photo of the bridge on Boy Scout Road was selected for the cover of the 2020-2021 Seeley Lake Lions Club Phone Directory. It was chosen because it was immediately recognizable as an iconic part of the Seeley Lake area.
Andersen lives in Seeley Lake. She remembers crossing the bridge as a small child when going to the campground. Her dad would always stop and point out the beaver lodge.
Once Andersen had her own children, they would catch perch off the bridge. Now she travels across the bridge to take her granddaughters to swim and hike on the trails.
"I'll bet locals and visitors have good memories too," wrote Andersen in her photograph description. "I think it is so beautiful in the fall when the larch trees are yellow."
The judges agreed that the bridge is an iconic image of the Seeley Lake area. Seeley Lake Lion Samantha Arroyo said it is an image and location that the people in the surrounding communities can immediately identify and one that contains "significant sentimentality as a representation of our lifestyle."
The Lions Club thanks all those who submitted photographs this year. Arroyo said they were beautiful photographs and it was very difficult to choose this year's winner.
The Lions Club phone books will be out in February. Look for yours in your post office box. There will also be extras placed around the communities.
