SEELEY LAKE - As Grandparents and community members of Seeley Lake we are very concerned and upset with the fact that our Superintendent will not have his contract renewed after only five months at Seeley Lake Elementary. We want to know what specific written expectations he was given when hired and what he needed to accomplish in this past five months to justify his contract not being renewed? What are the expectations that he did not accomplish in the five months that validate his contract not being renewed?
It cost more than $8,000 and now another $8,000 to start the process all over again. If the teachers are so concerned about leadership and significantly overdue updated curriculum (which should have been done by the previous superintendent) don’t you think an additional $8,000 could be spend on that overdue updated curriculum and leadership classes or seminars for the betterment of the entire school?
Teachers, just because you have been in a job for years doesn’t mean that you are above learning how to communicate with newer staff or educators in a respectful way. It just means you have job security.
Teachers, look at yourself in the mirror . Ask yourself what can I do to make it better at Seeley Lake Elementary as a veteran educator? If the veteran educators’ top priorities are building a powerful team at Seeley Lake Elementary then they should lead by example. Your top priority by the way should be your students and offering to aid in the purchasing of overdue updated curriculum, not whining about your feelings.
Respect is earned - not a given because of years of service. After all it’s not a popularity contest, it’s about the long-term goal of the school. As veteran educators walk your talk, be the example, you are part of what needs to change. If you find it so emotionally stressful on a daily basis you can leave but you won’t because you have job security.
Teachers, with all of your collective experience you all should be above this disgraceful act of running to the board to dismiss a superintendent after five months, knowing what a mess he walked into. We need to reinstate the superintendent and let him continue to clean up the mess at SLE and stop wasting money.
