PLAINS – The Seeley-Swan Blackhawks and Lady Blackhawks took on the Horsemen and Trotters Dec. 14.
The Boys got off on the wrong foot falling behind the Horsemen 12 points in the first quarter with half those points coming from Horsemen free throws. In the third quarter, the Boys kept the pressure on and took the lead. They held off the Horsemen in the fourth quarter to a 47-44 victory.
Mercado led the Blackhawks with 28 points including three, three-pointers, nine baskets for two each and a pair of free throws. Sawyer Shelmerdine had three baskets for 6 points followed by Walker McDonald with 5 points. Wood and Ream each had 3 and Chase Haines sunk 2.
The Lady Blackhawks walked all over the Trotters scoring enough points in the first quarter to match the Trotters’ entire game but they didn’t stop there. The final score was 48-16.
Seven Lady Blackhawks shared the scoreboard with Terra Bertsch’s 12 points including a pair of three-pointers leading the way. Klaire Kovatch had 9 followed by Sariah Maughan with 8, Kara Good with 6, Aspen Conley with 5 and Emily Maughan and Bethany Hoag with 4 each.
