SEELEY LAKE - Next Monday’s meeting of the Seeley Lake Community Council promises some lively discussion.
The meeting will start with Chris Migliaccio, research professor at UM, who is seeking a grant from the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences to extend his study of the health effects of the Rice Ridge fire. He is asking the Community Council for a letter of support.
Next will be a presentation on the proposed RV Park. Brandon Grosvenor, the developer and Paul Forsting of Territorial Landworks (TL), agent for the developer, will discuss the project and answer questions.
TL will consider the Council meeting as the “Neighborhood Meeting” which will “start the clock” for a permit application. In order to apply for a permit, the developer must hold a neighborhood meeting one year before the permit can be considered.
In a note to the Community Council, Grosvenor wrote, “I am really excited about this project and the wonderful RV Park we will have in the end. I don’t see myself as a developer but more as a community member wanting to have a business that can support my family and hopefully give a few other people in town a summer job. Seeley Lake is a very special place to me and my family and we are looking forward to sharing such a wonderful area with new friends, even if it is just for a weekend at a time.”
They will be followed by Lisa Hayhurst, executive director of the Seeley Lake Area Chamber of Commerce, who will give an update on Chamber activities.
Finally, a regular guest at the Council, Quinn Carver, USFS Seeley Lake District Ranger, will talk about what’s going on at the Forest Service.
Like always, there will be an opportunity for public comments on non-agenda items.
The informal part of the meeting will start at 5:30 p.m. Monday, Nov. 11, at the Seeley Lake Historical Museum and Visitors Center, 2920 Highway 83, with pizza and water. The formal meeting begins at 6 p.m.
For those of you who are not in Seeley or have to miss the meeting, you will be able to either witness the meeting live or replay it later on the Seeley Lake Community Council’s Facebook page. Visit the page and click on the window that says “Seeley Lake Community Council is live now” to watch during the meeting. To send a question during the meeting, use the chat box on the right side of the screen. Council member Tom Browder, our techwiz, will see it and relay it to the speaker.
The meetings are archived on the Facebook page and can be replayed at a later point.
None of this should discourage anybody in Seeley Lake from attending the meeting in person. It is much more fun to be there and participate in the community event, not to mention the pizza!
