Lil' Eagles Camp closes out the season

SEELEY LAKE - Third and fourth graders had the opportunity to participate in the Lil' Eagles Fly High Volleyball Camp, Oct. 14-16. Eagles Volleyball Coach Chelsea Cahoon said they came up with the idea after a girl asked if she could join the team just for practices. She knew she was too young but loved the sport. There were also several other younger girls who would stay and watch, saying they wished they could play.

"We thought since most of the girls never even touch a volleyball until they're in fifth grade, it would be great to give them a little bit of a start and at least to get them excited about the game," wrote Cahoon in an email. "We also weren't quite ready to end the season."

The camp was run in five stations. They also held two-on-two tournament matches at the end of practice each day. Cahoon, Eagle's Assistant Coach Sandee Cahoon and Kal Kovatch led the camp for 17 Lil' Eagles and 16 players from the volleyball team helped coach as well.
