DEQ issues caution for algae bloom in Seeley Lake

SEELEY LAKE - An algae bloom was reported at the north end of Seeley Lake and observed at Big Larch as well. According to Seeley Lake District Ranger Quinn Carver, Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks confirmed an algae bloom however it is still unclear if the algae was toxic. The DEQ warning sign was posted by the Seeley Lake District. It cautions the public that toxic algae may be present and the water may be unsafe for people and pets. If blue-green algae is present: Do not swim or recreate in the water, do not drink the water; clean fish well and discard guts; avoid areas with blue-green algae while boating.
