"New viewers often ask us what to expect from an RDT performance. We tell them grace and athleticism, beauty and power. Beyond that, we tell them to embrace the unexpected." ~ Repertory Dance Theatre.
Alpine Artisans' 2 Valleys Stage is excited to bring you an extra-ordinary presentation of the body in motion: the Repertory Dance Theatre of Salt Lake City, Utah. It is not often that we have the opportunity to see such dedicated and accomplished dancers up close in such an intimate setting.
There is something about the ability the body has to bend and twist with grace and power, that has captured audiences young and old for centuries. For 52 years, RDT has pushed the boundaries of modern dance, while preserving and celebrating its legacy.
After a performance at The Lied Center in Lincoln, Neb., Executive Director Bill Stephan wrote, "The performance is perfect for both lifelong dance patrons and individuals who have never attended a modern dance event. Considering RDT's highest levels of artistic achievement coupled with the Company's exceptional commitment to community collaboration, I encourage every community to present RDT. They are truly world-class and amazing."
RDT will be performing for the public at the Seeley-Swan High School at 3 p.m. on Sunday, Oct 13. This presentation will give viewers a sampling of the "scope and diversity of modern dance, past and present." RDT was established in 1966 and continues to demonstrate a diverse range of modern dance styles and music, inspiring "the creative voice in people of all ages." Sure to be an unforgettable experience, this is a performance you won't want to miss!
On the Monday and Tuesday following the public performance, RDT will be doing educational outreach at the local schools. Each school will be attending assembly informances and then breaking into small workshop groups where the goal will be to help children explore the various ways they can express themselves through motion, music and dance. From the youngest kiddos experimenting with their "wiggles and giggles" to those upperclassmen wanting to explore the more refined and graceful movements of professional dancers, this group provides guidance and inspiration.
Tickets for the public performance can be purchased in advance or at the door. The cost for adults is $14, for senior citizens (65+) $12. All youth under 18 are admitted free with an adult. Season tickets are still available for $50 (seniors $45).
