SEELEY LAKE - The Seeley-Swan Lady Blackhawks defeated Victor and Darby last week improving their conference record to 2-2.
The Ladies hosted Victor Sept. 12 and made quick work of the match in three sets 25-16, 25-13 and 25-14.
On the offense, Sariah Maughan had 10 kills on 17 attempts with just 2 errors while Aspen Conley had 10 assists and Taylor Dillree had 4 aces in 17 serves with no errors.
Darby put up more of a fight Sept. 14 forcing the match to four sets before falling to the Lady Blackhawks, 25-17, 25-17, 16-25 and 25-23.
Klaire Kovatch led in kills against Darby with 9 followed by Maughan with 7 and Bethany Hoag with 6 while Conley had 7 assists. Dillree and Hoag led in serving with 5 and 4 aces respectively. Dillree and Conley had nearly half the team's digs with 13 and 11.
Lady Blackhawks Head Coach Tammy Lewis was pleased with the wins but said the team is still having issues with their hit-to-kill ratio. In the Darby match the team had 26 kills but had 38 errors in 110 attempts. They also struggled missing some key serves against Darby and in the Victor match they gave Victor nearly a third of their points on serving errors.
This week the Lady Blackhawks are on the road Sept. 19 at Drummond with JV starting at 5:30 p.m. They then head to Arlee Sept. 21 for a varsity tournament with the first game starting at 8:30 a.m.
